What Your Tongue Can Tell You About Your Oral Health!?
Your tongue can reveal important clues about your overall oral health. Changes in its colour, texture, coating or movement may sometimes indicate a dental problem that needs attention.

- A white coating on the tongue may be linked to poor oral hygiene, dehydration or fungal infection.
-Red, swollen or sore areas can occur because of irritation, vitamin deficiencies, infection or ill-fitting dentures.
-A smooth, unusually red tongue may require professional evaluation. Dark patches, persistent ulcers, bleeding, numbness or a lump should not be ignored, especially if they last for more than two weeks.

Bad breath, a dry mouth, burning sensation or difficulty moving the tongue may also be associated with oral health concerns. Tobacco and alcohol use can further increase the risk of gum disease and other mouth conditions.

Gently clean your tongue with a tongue scraper or soft toothbrush, drink enough water and maintain regular brushing and flossing.

However, home care cannot replace a dental examination. If you have a persistent tongue problem or oral discomfort, book a consultation with Madan’s Multispeciality Dental Care Centre in Lajpat Nagar, Delhi. Early diagnosis supports healthier teeth, gums and mouth.
