What it is & how it works
Zoom whitening is a professional in-office cosmetic dental treatment using a hydrogen-peroxide-based gel plus a special light (LED, UV) to accelerate stain removal from teeth.
Typical procedure: dentist cleans, polishes teeth → protects gums & lips → applies whitening gel → uses the light for ~3 rounds of ~15 minutes each (≈ 45 minutes) in many cases.
Results can be quite noticeable in one session: some sources say up to about 6-8 shades lighter.
People who have extrinsic stains (from coffee, tea, tobacco, etc) rather than very deep intrinsic structural discoloration. Note: some types of stains (for example greyish ones) respond less well.
You’ll typically need your teeth in good condition (no untreated cavities, gum disease, etc) before whitening.
After-care & maintenance
Avoid foods, drinks that stain (coffee, tea, red wine, dark soda) for at least 24-48 hours post-treatment because the enamel is more “porous” immediately after.
Maintain good brushing, flossing, regular cleanings. Use toothpaste designed for sensitivity or whitening if recommended.
