Laser operculectomy is a minimally invasive periodontal surgical procedure in which a dental laser is used to remove the operculum (a flap of gingival tissue covering a partially erupted tooth), most commonly associated with partially erupted mandibular third molars.
Indications
• Recurrent pericoronitis
• Pain and inflammation around partially erupted teeth
• Difficulty in maintaining oral hygiene under the operculum
• Prior to orthodontic or prosthodontic treatment
