Madan’s Multispeciality Dental Care Centre recently hosted an in-house Basic Life Support (BLS) training session aimed at enhancing emergency preparedness among its clinical and support staff.
Recognizing that prompt, confident response to medical emergencies can be lifesaving, the clinic organized this hands-on workshop to refresh essential resuscitation skills and ensure that every team member is equipped to act effectively in urgent situations.
The session was conducted on-site and led by certified BLS instructor from a recognized training provider. It began with a brief orientation outlining the objectives: to review the latest BLS guidelines, practice high-quality cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), learn correct use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs), and reinforce teamwork and communication during a cardiac emergency.
Attendance included dentists & dental assistants, reflecting the clinic’s commitment to a whole-team approach to patient safety.
Instruction combined concise theory with extensive, scenario-based practical drills. Participants reviewed the chain of survival and updates to compression depth and rate, airway management basics, and recognition of signs of cardiac arrest, choking, and respiratory distress. Emphasis was placed on early recognition and activation of emergency response, immediate initiation of chest compressions, and minimizing interruptions in compressions.
The instructors used manikins to coach proper hand placement, compression technique, and ventilation methods, providing real-time feedback on depth and rate to help attendees refine their skills.
The clinic provided all necessary equipment for practice, including adult and pediatric manikins, pocket masks, and an AED trainer.
All participants completed pre- and post-training assessments to measure knowledge and skill gains. Results showed a marked improvement in confidence and competence; many staff reported increased readiness to manage emergencies and greater familiarity with clinic protocols.
Madan’s Multispeciality Dental Care Centre plans to incorporate this BLS training into its regular staff development calendar, with refresher courses every six to twelve months and periodic mock drills to sustain skills. The clinic also committed to maintaining accessible emergency equipment and updating standard operating procedures based on best practices.
By investing in practical BLS training for the entire team, Madan’s Multispeciality Dental Care Centre strengthens patient safety, improves staff readiness, and demonstrates a proactive stance toward emergency care. This session reaffirms the clinic’s mission to deliver high-quality dental services while prioritizing the wellbeing of patients and staff alike
